Built around a fully forged 2.2L SR22DET and developed continuously over more than 20 years by a single owner, Tanaka-San & Pro Shop Diversion, this car is widely recognised as one of the most extreme SR builds ever produced in Japan. Producing well in excess of 1000 horsepower, it recorded an astonishing 8.7-second quarter-mile pass at the TM Works Central Circuit Drag Festival in 2024, earning its place as the second-fastest SR-powered Silvia in the country and the fastest Japanese Silvia running without methanol. From early 2000s show appearances such as Osaka Auto Messe to modern-day competitive drag events, this S14.5 perfectly bridges the golden era of Japanese tuning with contemporary drag performance.
The engine specification is uncompromising in every respect, centred around a fully built SR22DET (SR20DET) featuring an HKS full-countered crankshaft, Tomei 87.5mm forged pistons, Tomei H-beam connecting rods, solid lifter Tomei 280-degree camshafts, and Tomei double valve springs, complemented by phosphor bronze valve guides and a diversion inner shim kit for sustained high-RPM stability. Forced induction is provided by the legendary HKS T51 R-Kai BB turbocharger with an HKS 60mm wastegate, mounted to a Trust stainless steel manifold. Supporting systems include a JUN Racing surge tank, dual 280LPH Bosch fuel pumps feeding an ATL fuel safety cell, SARD injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulation, and a 70PS NOS system. Engine management is handled by the HKS F-Con V Pro Gold ECU with HKS Twin Power ignition, while cooling and lubrication are comprehensively addressed via a Koyo radiator, Samco hoses, FD3S electric fan, Trust extended sump, Trust water pump pulley, and Naplex reinforced timing chain, ensuring reliability under extreme drag conditions.
The drivetrain and chassis are purpose-built for straight-line dominance, featuring HKS drag-spec damper coilovers and a JUN Original drag rear cross-member originally designed for the Skyline GT-R, significantly reinforcing rear-end geometry under hard launches. Power is transferred through a Newos triple-plate clutch and Liberty air shifter, allowing lightning-fast gear changes at full throttle, while a Secret Sports differential lock ensures consistent traction. Steering and suspension components include GP Sports tie rods, ARC stabiliser link rods, and a GT-R stabiliser, all chosen to maintain stability at high speed. The car rides on WELD Prostar drag wheels wrapped in Hoosier drag tyres, while deceleration and shutdown are managed by a Stroud spring launcher and parachute, highlighting the car’s genuine competition pedigree.
Aesthetically and structurally, the car is as distinctive as its mechanical specification. The S15 front-end conversion defines the S14.5 identity, complemented by extensive RASTY carbon and lightweight components including carbon doors, carbon boot lid, dry carbon mirrors, and polycarbonate windows. Additional bespoke elements include a custom-made carbon bonnet, custom drag wing, Liberty Walk overfenders, West Yokohama FRP front fenders, and custom FRP ducted lighting, all optimised for weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency. Inside, the cabin is stripped and functional, featuring a Recaro SPG bucket seat, Cusco 7-piece roll cage with carbon side bars, paddle shifters, and a suite of HKS and TRUST electronics including EVC boost control, mixture monitoring, and NOS management.
