Searching For CarsQuick SearchThe quick search box which is visible on all the pages on our used car site allows you to quickly locate cars that you are interested in. Its quick and very powerful, allowing you to narrow the results from the search to the cars you are interested in. Example, if you were after a Seat Ibiza you could simply enter 'Seat Ibiza' into the search box and click search. This would return all the Seat Ibizas we have in stock, which could be quite a number. If on the other hand you weren't sure which car you were interested in, but you knew a list of features you absolutely wanted, you can enter these into the box. They must be entered in a specific way however for the search engine to recognise them. The most common features are listed below, along with the keywords you must enter. Feature List
For example, if you wanted a car with ABS, Power Steering, Petrol Engine, Alloy Wheels, Remote Central Locking, Air Conditioning you could enter 'ABS PAS Petrol Alloys R/C/L Aircon' into the search box and click search. The search would return all of the cars which we have in stock that have those features. The search is not limited to features, you can put almost anything into the search box - colours are another powerful search tool. If you only like Red cars - simply enter 'Red' into the box and click Search! If you don't mind which car you want to see, but you like Red, Blue and Grey cars - simply enter 'Red Blue Grey' into the box, click 'Include Near Matches' and click Search. The 'Include Near Matches' option is required as by default the search will try and find cars that match all of the words you enter, needless to say, even if it found a car that matched 'Red Blue and Grey' I doubt anyone would be interested in it!! The option simply allows the search to match on any of the words you enter, thus it will find any car which is Red or Blue or Grey. Engine size is another option you can search on, simply enter the engine size - e.g. 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and/or fuel type Petrol, Diesel even engine types - V6, V8 etc.. Needless to say, these can all be combined to narrow the search, for example, 'Leon 1.6 ABS Alloys R/C/L Red' will narrow the search results down to just 1.6 Leons which have ABS, Alloys, Remote Central Locking and are in Red will be returned. By default, the cars which match your criteria are presented in price order, starting which the cheapest. If you don't find the car you're after, please read the section on Subscriptions for details on how to be notified if we get a car in which does match your criteria. Advanced SearchThe advanced search will let you do some things which you can't do on the Quick search, mainly search on Mileage and price and it also allows you to customise the order in which the cars are presented to you. Can't find the car you want?One of the advanced features you'll find on our site is the ability to subscribe to any search you make. There is of course no charge for this facility and the details you enter when you register (name and email address) will not be passed onto any 3rd parties. To login or register with us for this service, please click here. In addition to being able to subscribe to searches, by registering you will also be able to make use of the shortlist feature of the website. For more information on this, please check out the Shortlist section of this help file. When you sign up, you'll be able to choose the format of the emails you receive when new cars that match your search are found, HTML format is the default. The difference between the two is in appearance, they both contain the same information. However, the HTML emails have the look and feel of our website and its just like looking at a page from the site in your email program. The download size difference between the two is kept to a minimum as the pictures in the HTML email are not sent with the email but loaded from our website when you view the email in your email program. Unless you will be viewing your emails on a mobile device, we strongly recommend that you choose to accept HTML emails, certainly all the major email clients (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape etc..) can all display HTML emails. Managing your subscriptionsWhen you have registered with us, you can manage your subscriptions from this page. The searches you are subscribed to are displayed at the top of the page, the searches you have performed in this visit to the site are displayed in the middle of the page and your shortlist search is shown at the bottom of the page. To subscribe to any search, simply click on the Subscribe button for that search. You will then be prompted to enter a description for that search. The shortlist is a special case search which cannot be deleted. But you can view your shortlist as if it were a search buy clicking the 'View' button. You can also subscribe to your shortlist, so if any details of the cars in your shortlist are changed, you will be notified of the change. So if that car you've always wanted is in our stock but its price is just out of your reach you can subscribe to the search and you will be notified if, for example, the price drops or it goes on special offer. What's with this 'Most Viewed' box?The most viewed box is just that - it shows you which cars are the most viewed in our stock list. My Shortlist? What's that?The shortlist feature allows you to add cars which you are interested in to a shortlist which is displayed below the 'Can't find the right car for you?' box on the left hand side of the page. When you view a car's details, if you are interested in the car, you can add the car to your shortlist by clicking the appropriate option in the 'What Now?' box below the car's photos.
